Earlier this week, I thought Bruce did a good job explaining the purpose behind this site. Though we’re glad to have launched DigitalNomads.com last week, we know there are some things we need to do better. One of those things is to emphasize community elements of this site, so it becomes more about topics related to digital nomads than it is about Dell.
That’s where the social bookmarking site Delicious comes in. I’ve been using it for a couple of years now to keep up with links for Direct2Dell. A few weeks ago, I took note of the re-vamped 2.0 site after Michael Arrington blogged that it was coming soon. Since then, I’ve been using it a bit more, and I like the things the Yahoo team has done with it.
So, what does this have to do with DigitalNomads.com and community? We have a Delicious account at Digital_Nomads that we used to track some digital nomad-related posts. I’m willing to bet several of you are doing the same thing. If that’s the case, feel free to join our network. We’ll join yours too. It’s a small step toward what we hope to make this site into. We want to make it easy for you as a digital nomad to share stuff that means something to you. Photos and videos are a logical next step. More on that soon.
We already expose our Delicious tags in the Delicious Insights section on the home page, but soon, I hope we can swap that out with the more intuitive tagroll pictured below:
Bottom line, we currently have no networks in our Delicious account. Please help us fix that.

Why does the “did a good job”-link, link to an article about delicious?
Also - digitalnomands.com keeps bugging me with a popup about logging in with 2 seconds interval, (im on mac running firefox 3.0, btw). I have registered 2 times and havent recieved a password or account, so I’ll be back later.
But interesting concept. Will look foreward to seeing it develop.
Rolf: Thanks for sticking with us.. The “did a good job link” was user error on my part. Apologize for that… and it’s been fixed.
I apologize for the Firefox 3.0 snag. I’ll have to look into it further. Will let you know when it is fixed.
Update: Earlier today, I believe we were able to fix the error you mention Rolf… thanks for bringing it to out attention.
Thanks again,
Lionel

Lionel, maybe you guys need to do some outreach — find guest bloggers willing to write some interesting “how to” storylines that kick-starts an engaging dialog. I did a post for Kelly’s SMB blog, on the topic of “Business Video on an SMB Budget” — that’s an example to consider.
My point: you’re entering a somewhat crowded space — established mobility related blogs.
I will swing by periodically to view your progress and comment, time permitting.
Cheers, David
@David — you must have read our minds. We’re absolutely interested in having guest bloggers on how-to topics, nomadic stories of how one moved to working remotely etc. If anyone is interested in discussing a post, drop me a note at admin@digitalnomads.com. Thanks for the comment.
