A true nomad knows that every airport has one great place to eat:  That little local restaurant hidden in the corner; the non-chain deli that knows how to make you happy.

CIMG3632In Austin, it’s the Salt Lick BBQ—probably the best airport food in the world.

It’s the only airport where I stop to eat when I land and sometimes eat twice while waiting to leave.  (I owe big thanks to Dell’s John, Richard, Lionel, Bruce Eric, Bob and Bill who send me a little care package.)

Of course, those are fighting words to my Memphis kin, who are known to stuff a few slabs of ribs from Corky’s into their bags on the way out of town.

So what’s the secret to finding great airport food?  Look for where the flight crews eat. I’ve created my list of favorite airport restaurants below but would ask that you add to this to help your fellow travelers.CIMG1500
